Rising Market – Energy Efficient Emergency Lighting

by | Dec 13, 2021 | 0 comments |

Emergency lighting is a rapidly increasing market on a national and global scale. Battery-based lighting ensures that facility and property owners will have backup power in case of emergencies. These emergencies do not have to just be natural disasters, but regular power outages as well. The lithium-ion battery is growing in popularity in some regions because of the upticks in the population in certain cities. Lithium-ion batteries are also advancing in their technology by becoming more powerful and smaller in size. These qualities make the battery a perfect choice for emergency lighting systems around the world.
According to a report by ResearchandMarkets.com, at the end of 2020, the global market for emergency lighting was approximately $5 billion. It is estimated to grow even more by the end of 2026. As 2021 ends, the U.S. market for emergency lighting was worth nearly $1.6 billion. China is expected to follow suit as their market is believed to reach $1.2 billion by 2026. Other countries like Australia, India and South Korea make up a significant portion of the market as well.
Businesses around the world are recognizing the importance of proper emergency lighting. These markets will only keep growing as new infrastructures are being built in countries, where more cities are in the process of being developed. Batteries like lithium-ion will be more in demand as well as the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) that is used for exit signs and pathway lighting.
