Investing in LED Lighting Pays Off Long Term

LED lamps have been gaining more popularity between them and the alternatives. Some of the more popular alternative bulbs include incandescent, fluorescent, CFL and many more. There are many clear differences between each lightbulb from how they’re made to the cost. LED bulbs tend to be more expensive with upfront costs. Studies show that the average LED bulb can cost around $5 to $7, whereas alternative bulbs, an incandescent for example, goes for around $2 to $3 per bulb. LED lighting is an investment that can lead to a long-term ROI the people don’t get through incandescent. LED lighting conserves more energy than its alternatives. When it gives off less heat and energy while turned on, it’s helping lower electric bills. Some LED light products can save 75% more energy and last 25 times longer than incandescent lighting. The longer lifespan means they won’t need as much maintenance than incandescent bulbs.

LED lighting can also be compatible with lighting control systems. The most popular controls that are used through facilities are motion sensors and dimming capabilities. Having these two types of controls can also cut back on utilities being used. Motion sensors can help by not keeping lights on when nobody is in the room and dimming conserves the amount of light being used throughout the room. Other bonus to LED lighting is that they will even provide better lighting quality compared to incandescent lights.

For facility managers and building owners, LED lighting is a strong contender for those looking to conserve energy, reduce their maintenance costs and has goals to lower their utility bills long term. LEDs are customizable to fit different needs based on the location and use of the space.
